Job Summary: The Freight Import Coordinator will manage the coordination and execution of import shipments from origin to final destination. The ideal candidate has experience working with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and carriers, and is adept at managing shipping documents and ensuring compliance with Canada. and international import regulations. Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and monitor inbound international shipments by ocean, air, and ground.
- Communicate with overseas agents, vendors, and carriers to ensure timely booking and shipment.
- Prepare and review import documentation, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, and arrival notices.
- Ensure compliance with Canada Customs and Canadian Border Security Agency (CBSA) and other government agency regulations.
- Track and trace shipments, proactively resolve delays or discrepancies, and provide status updates to internal teams and clients.
- Work closely with customs brokers to ensure accurate and timely clearance.
- Maintain accurate records of all import transactions and support internal audits.
Collaborate with internal departments such as procurement, warehouse, and customer service to ensure seamless import operations.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in freight forwarding, import coordination, or logistics.
- Familiarity with Incoterms, Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), and international shipping documentation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and logistics software (eg, CargoWise, SAP, or similar platforms).
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with freight forwarders and customs brokers.
- Knowledge of Canadian import regulations and classification processes.
- Multilingual skills a plus (eg, Mandarin preferred).
